With only 38 euro per month change the life of a young person in Nosy Komba
How does the programme work?
The best secondary school students receive a scholarship each year to attend high school and eventually university. Besides the school costs, such as enrolment and books, the scholarships cover transport, food and accommodation expenses.
The secondary school director coordinates the programme and reports regularly on the progress of the students. In addition, these students can become part of their village’s education and sustainable development programmes. They are offered opportunities to participate in other projects, such as the media library, school maintenance or support to local companies to gain professional experience and to support the younger kids’ education.
Why sponsor a student ?
We believe that education is a fundamental investment for children, their families and the local community, and the best way to make local development sustainable. We want children to attend not only high school but also university.
With the opening of the first class of the Banana High School, in September 2026, the students can now finish the secondary education on the island. This represents a huge step forward since costs are reduced. However, with this enlargement of school Banana, we need more resources to maintain the high school and the dorms for the children. It is expected that the school in full regime will host up to 200 students of the whole island.
