Help Them Rise: our new campaign has launched
Sunshine in Nosy Komba is launching Help Them Rise, a campaign to support students on Nosy Komba, Madagascar, from their first years at Banana High School all the way to university.
A school that keeps growing
Over the years, the Banana school has grown step by step.
This year marks a historic milestone. Banana school has opened the only high school on Nosy Komba, and 40 students are now continuing their education without leaving their island.
Our students are proving what they can do. This year, 33 Banana school students passed the BEPC, Madagascar’s national middle school exam, a 100% success rate.
Beyond the island
Nosy Komba is too small to ever have a university. To keep going, students must leave the island and study on the main island of Madagascar, mostly in Diego Suarez and in the capital, Antananarivo.
That’s why we created the Rise & Shine scholarships. They help talented young people get to university and build their own future. Many go on to become entrepreneurs, like Joelline, a former scholarship student who founded Kokoa Komba and is now developing a local cocoa and chocolate project.
